I haven’t written or posted anything here in a few weeks. It’s been a busy month. I started a new job that immediately required travel to Birmingham, Alabama, and then to Indianapolis. This post won’t be long, but I wanted to write something.
A few weeks ago, I invited friends, neighbors, and family to celebrate a memorial Mass in my backyard for my mother, father, and many others who have crossed into Eternity. Seven years ago, this day was my mom’s last day here.
Fr. Ed Shea, OFM celebrated the beautiful, simple ceremony at sunset yesterday, the 29th. As he always does, he sang and then invited us to stand around the altar, the table of the Lord. The night ended at a neighbor’s table with pozole and tinga.
I’ll write more in the coming days and weeks. I hope you have a wonderful August and squeeze all the sweet juice from these last summer days. They go too fast, like most of life.
